Foundation Solutions

Green Heritage uses tailored foundations for eco-friendly modular homes in Portugal:

  • The Slab-on-Grade system is a type of foundation where a reinforced concrete slab is placed directly on the prepared ground, without the need for basements or crawl spaces. This system was widely used by Frank Lloyd Wright in his famous Usonian Houses, where it became a hallmark of his architectural style. Known for its efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and suitability for terrains with appropriate conditions, this method remains a popular choice in both residential and commercial constructions.

  • Screw Pile Foundations: Utilizes large screws driven deep into the ground for strong support with minimal excavation, ideal for modern modular projects.

  • Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs): Employs polystyrene forms filled with cement to create durable, insulated foundations and walls, perfect for basements and enhancing thermal efficiency.

Our structural engineers assess soil, load, and environmental factors to select the best foundation, ensuring each Green Heritage home is built on a stable, sustainable base.

Seismic Protection

All foundations include seismic protection measures, ensuring our homes are safe and resilient against earthquakes, enhancing durability and reliability.

Screw Foundations

Ground screws operate on the principle of pile foundations, a method that has stood the test of time as one of the most dependable foundation systems. They are made from galvanized steel pipes with a welded thread, designed to bear both horizontal and vertical loads in the ground. Installation is carried out using a specialized ground screw driver. These foundations offer load-bearing capabilities comparable to those of concrete foundations. Additionally, they eliminate the need for earth displacement during construction, making them an efficient and environmentally friendly alternative.
